About Us
With a history stretching back to the band's formation in the early 90s, Free Spirit is no flash in the pan. Although the line-up has changed and evolved (improved!) over the years, our commitment to technical excellence and sheer fun remains the same.
Based in Gloucestershire, we regularly perform at pubs, clubs and venues around Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud, the surrounding counties, Bristol and the South West, South Wales and occasionally further afield around the UK. We also play at weddings, corporate events, private parties, festivals and other functions.
We play music from a wide range of genres from soul to rock and pop covers and will typically curate a set list for each gig of mixed tunes to fill 1, 2 or 3 sets depending on the length of time you want us to play for. We can also tailor the song choices to fit a particular preference for style or era and we have a back catalogue of 100's of songs so whether you're looking for Kings of Leon, Sam & Dave or Elvis Presley, Shotgun or Hey Jude, we've got you covered.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch and find out more.

Richie Keys has been playing keyboards in various bands since leaving college and enjoys playing lots of different genres of music. His main focus for the last 15 years has been Free Spirit where he gets to play lots of his favourite tunes, but he has been known to pop up occasionally playing in bands specialising in Blues, Ska, and Reggae.
Dishy Dave
Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals
Dave joined Free Spirit in March 2023 after a 20 year hiatus from live performance. He once studied guitar at the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music and has been known to take a turn on many different instruments as well as having a keen interest in music recording and production.
Dave achieved a degree in Electronics with Music Technology and, as a result, is now frequently lumbered with anything techy or sound engineering-y to do with the band.
Interesting Fact: Through his day job, he once got to visit the legendary and hallowed Abbey Road Studios' Studio One.
